Neighborhoods--North

The northern end of the Island is mainly known for its connection to the Kitsap Peninsula via the Agate Pass Bridge. On your map, Koura Road is designated as the dividing line between north and central Island neighborhoods.

Agate Point/Seabold
Just south and east of the Agate Pass Bridge is the neighborhood of Agate Point. The Agate Point neighborhood is the most northern section of Bainbridge Island and is comprised of established waterfront homes with views toward Agate Passage, lovely inland homes and quiet areas surrounding the Bloedel Reserve.

South and west of the Agate Pass Bridge is the neighborhood of Seabold. Properties here vary from lovely homes on acreage, beautiful homes with views of the Olympics and gracious waterfront estates. Seabold Community Hall is located in the neighborhood and hosts beginners to professional musicians of all kinds on the second Saturday of every month. They play without amplification in the sweetest, most resonant little one-room schoolhouse you've ever seen.

West/Port Madison
A quiet, serene area of the Island is West Port Madison - home of The Bloedel Reserve. (Public access to the Reserve is through the Agate Point neighborhood). West Port Madison is the only access to part of the north shore of Port Madison. Some of the properties in this neighborhood are heavily forested while others enjoy views and waterfront facing north towards Agate Pass.

If historical sites are of interest to you, investigate charming Port Madison located at the northeast end of the Island. Here neighbors have worked hard to preserve landmarks and historic homes. This area of the Island has a history of lumber and shipping which played a key role in the growth of Bainbridge Island. You will find view properties, preserved historic homes and charming dwellings. This is home to the Port Madison Yacht Club as well as the location of the beautiful Fay Bainbridge State Park. Have you found Frog Rock yet?

Manzanita
Aw. Manzanita Bay. One of the most beautiful sheltered bays on the Island. Located on the northwest end of the Island, the Manzanita neighborhood faces the Olympic Mountains and enjoys warm afternoon sun. Many of the properties in the Manzanita Bay area are waterfront and view homes secluded down forested driveways. However, as you wander around the neighborhood, you will also find charming homes set in meadows and the rural ambience.

Manzanita Bay is about half mile long protected by most winds and is a peaceful, quiet retreat. There is public access at the old Manzanita Landing at the foot of Dock Street. The sign dates the landing at 1895-1927. Access is at the three foot high concrete ecology blocks marking the street end between two waterfront homes. This is a great place for the locals to picnic, sunbathe and swim. All land and beaches on either side of the access are private. You may find the sea lions enjoying water activities along with you.

Meadowmeer
At the central portion of the north end of the Island is the Meadowmeer neighborhood named after the Island's public golf course. Many of the homes frame the Meadowmeer Golf and Country Club or provide easy access. This neighborhood also boasts of a newly remodeled racquet club and gym facility. Though conveniently located within 10 minutes of downtown, there is lots of activity without going far from home.

Sunrise
Running north and south along the northeast side of the Island between Rolling Bay and Port Madison is a road and neighborhood called Sunrise. As the name implies, this neighborhood enjoys sunrise views of Seattle and marine traffic gazing east toward the Cascades. Homes nearest the water are high-bank properties some with access to the Sound. On the non-water side are rural properties that enjoy large lots and 'country' back roads for easy living.

As you travel north and toward the end of Sunrise, you'll find Fay Bainbridge State Park. Be sure to stop and walk the beach. It's a lovely spot to breathe in the fresh Puget Sound air, watch the eagles fly by and enjoy the lapping sounds of the water against the shore. If you brought your latte with you - even better.
