Battle Point Park
11299 Arrow Point Drive NE

General Location: From Miller Road, west on Arrow Point Drive; ends at Frey Avenue

This amazing park totals 90.3 acres with largely open spaces, two ponds, jogging trail, fitness course, two soccer fields, three softball fields, horse area, a picnic shelter, two tennis courts, sand volleyball court, play areas, two basketball courts shared with a roller hockey court, a large children's play structure, garden plots, the Park District maintenance shop, and a caretaker's house. It makes for an excellent dog walk as long as your pet is kept on a leash.

The Battle Point Astronomical Association is a non-profit amateur astronomy organization located here on Bainbridge Island. The BPAA has constructed and operates the Edwin E. Ritchie Observatory and astronomy center in the former "Helix House" at the park.

Check out the old transmitter building in the center of the park. It has been preserved from the 1940's when the property was a former US Naval Transmitter Station Puget Sound and used to relay radio signals to and from the South Pacific. It had fallen into disrepair until a group of island residents in partnership with the Bainbridge Island Metro Parks and Recreation District formed the Transmitter Building Renovation Project in 2003 to convert the 3,000+ square foot building into a modern gymnastics center for Bainbridge youth.
