Fay Bainbridge Washington State Park Fay Bainbridge State Park is a 17-acre marine camping park with 1,420 feet of saltwater shoreline on the northeast corner of Bainbridge Island. The park offers sweeping views of Puget Sound, the Cascade Mountains, Mt. Baker and Mt. Rainier. "Brrr… Swimmers Watch -- Puget Sound's water temperature is about 50 degrees - wetsuits are recommended for all Puget Sound swimming. However, on Bainbridge Island many of the locals take advantage of Manzanita Bay and Blakely Harbor for outdoor swimming." Picnics: There are two kitchen shelters with electricity, plus 11 sheltered and 80 unsheltered picnic tables. One shelter is available by reservation. It will accommodate groups of up to 50 people. For reservations, phone the park at (206) 842-3931. There is a reservation fee. What to do: Bird Watching ^ Fire Circles ^ Horseshoe pits ^ Sailboarding ^ Volleyball Field ^ Wildlife Viewing Boating: Two mooring buoys are available for boat tie up. Call or visit their Website for pricing and hours of operation. The History: At the park entrance is a display of a bell donated by the Kitsap County Historical Society. Captain Jeremiah Farnham brought this bell to the area from San Francisco in 1883. The bell was to proclaim important community events to the citizens of Port Madison. The park was acquired in 1944 from Mr. And Mrs. Temple S. Fay. |
