Mission Statement: The mission of IslandWood is to provide exceptional learning experiences and to inspire lifelong environmental and community stewardship.

IslandWood is a unique 255-acre outdoor learning center that offers programs for schools as well as programs for adults, children and families. The learning experience is achieved through the delivery of experiential "hands-on" education, using the environment as a classroom, engaging diverse learning styles, integrating science, technology and the arts and showcasing sustainable practices.

On the home page of their Web site, is a list of upcoming events for children and adults. They all sound so intriguing; it's hard to make a choice of which ones to attend.

From the Website, you can also get information about conducted tours. The wonderful three-hour tour is a walk around the beautiful 255 acres. You will have the opportunity to see the bog, cattail marsh, pond, beautiful forest and ravine. You will also learn about the native animals and plants present on the site, and visit the educational buildings and lodges.
